The basic requirement for enrollment in the first-year programs of the first cycle of studies is to have completed a four-year high school education in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina or equivalent education abroad. In addition to completing high school, it is necessary to pass an entrance exam. The enrollment competition is public and is announced in the media during the month of June within the University of Banja Luka's competition. The competition is available on the University of Banja Luka's website, the Faculty of Science's website, and in daily newspapers. The competition text contains information about enrollment quotas by faculties, as well as information about the application procedure, required documents, and deadlines. The competition also specifies the deadline for submitting enrollment documents and the date of the entrance exam. Competition Deadlines First Competition Deadline For the first competition deadline, it is important to regularly follow the information published by the media and the faculty's website! Inquire on time about application deadlines, preparatory classes, and the entrance exam schedule. Second Competition Deadline Depending on the available free slots, the second enrollment period is organized in August or September. The date of the entrance exam is announced in the media and on the faculty's website.

When enrolling/applying for the first cycle of studies, you fill out the application form and submit the following documents:

• birth certificate extract;
• a citizenship certificate not older than 6 months;
• original certificates of completed grades of secondary education and the original diploma of the passed graduation or final exam;
• proof of payment of the entrance exam fee;

You will obtain the application form at the student service, where you will also receive instructions for paying the entrance exam fee.

The entrance exam is held at all faculties of the University of Banja Luka at the same time. The entrance exam you will take at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (FNCS) depends on the selected study program and the specialization within the study program (by clicking on the link, you will get more information):

The order of candidates for enrollment in the first-year undergraduate study program is determined based on:

• General success achieved in secondary education (success in all subjects and grades throughout the four years of high school)
and
• Results achieved in the entrance exam or aptitude and ability test.

The number of points obtained based on general success is calculated by multiplying the average grade from all subjects in the four-year high school by the number 10.
In the entrance exam, you can score from 0 (zero) to 50 (fifty) points. The entrance exam is considered passed if you score at least 15 points. Based on both criteria, a maximum of 100 (one hundred) points can be achieved.
The Commission for Student Enrollment at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, in collaboration with the central commission for enrollment in study programs at the University of Banja Luka, is responsible for the implementation of the entrance exam and the determination of the candidate order (ranking list). The selection of candidates is based on the total number of points for both criteria on the ranking list. In case of the same total number of points for two or more candidates, the candidate with a higher number of points obtained in the entrance exam or the aptitude and ability test has an advantage.

The ranking list is formed based on the points candidates achieve from their high school performance and the results of the entrance exam. If you are on the ranking list within the number specified by the competition for enrollment, you have the right to enroll, and during enrollment, you need to submit a medical certificate.

A candidate who has the right to enroll but does not enroll within the specified period loses that right. Instead, the right to enroll is gained by the next qualified candidate on the ranking list. The ranking list is posted on the bulletin board and the official website of the faculty.

Appeal Period

A candidate who believes that the ranking process was not conducted correctly has the right to appeal to the Central Enrollment Commission within 48 hours of the publication of the ranking list on the faculty's bulletin board. A decision on the appeal will be made within 48 hours of submitting the appeal, communicated to the appellant, and posted on the faculty's bulletin board. If a candidate is not satisfied with the number of points obtained after the published results, they can file an appeal. The Enrollment Commission is obliged to consider the candidate's appeal and recalculate the points.

If you have secured the right to enroll, the next step is to officially register at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (PMF). Registration takes place in the week following the entrance exam, and you need to contact the Student Service at PMF, where you will receive the necessary documents to fill out. Along with the completed documents, you are required to submit a medical certificate.
